OF WISE CATS
...if you are thinking about getting a kitten from us.
All potential kitten buyers are screened by the Board
of Wise Cats. The mother of the kittens is the Chairman of the board. We feel that if our cats don't like you,
you can not get a kitten...
Our cats have made up a few rules for the placement of kittens, which all kitten buyers have to
sign for in our sales contract:
- Cats are not allowed outside,
unless they are in a cat run or under constant supervision on a leash. Cats that are allowed to walk outdoors
freely are at great risk of being run over by a car. In cat fights they can easily come home with serious
diseases like for instance cat aids (FIV). In some regions about 50% of the stray cats have cat aids. We provide
a health guarantee with our kittens, but that will only be of value if the cat does not go outside. A beautiful
Maine Coon is also very likely to be stolen.
- The cat will not be the only
cat in the household, unless there is an adult full-time at home. Maine Coons are very active and playful cats,
that like company. If they are left alone all the time they will probably either become depressed, lazy and
uninterested, or - more likely - be so very bored that they ruin your house.
- The cat will live as a member
of the family in the house and will not be more or less permanently locked in a separate place. Maine Coons need
human companionship too!
- No cat will be declawed! The
cats should have at least one scratching pole to scratch their nails. Providing cats with many places where they
are allowed to scratch, will help you to prevent them from scratching your furniture. We can also teach you how
to manicure their nails, which really makes a difference in the damage they can do.
- The cat will be provided with
a permanent home and will not be sold or given to a third party.
- If you are thinking about
getting a breeding cat from us, some extra conditions apply. Please E-mail us and tell us more about your
breeding plans. We prefer to sell our kittens to pet homes, but will make exceptions for very special breeders.
